This kid is amazing and a freaking genius. This is such a good idea and I really hope more kids excitement and interest in video games and fun get converted into technological inovation.

That being said, and I know this is way off topic but for some reason this popped in my head as soon as I saw this. This kid is very lucky to go to school he went to, where they had the resources and open mindedness to incourage his creativity. He was also lucky to be put in the poisiton to have access to apple and computer technology to begin with. Think about all the kids who don’t have such economic advantages. Or think about all those who might but even then didn’t have encouraging teachers and school faculty that take their ambitions and passions seriously.

This is why education reform needs to continue and even as we try cutting budgets nation wide, we don’t need to cut it where it counts. If all kids could have the resources and encouragement that Thomas Suarez, we wouldn’t be just talking about the awesome apps he’s made. The possibilities would be endless.

good:

Los Angeles sixth-grade developer Thomas Suarez teaches other students how to make apps with his ‘App Club’ at school. Why aren’t App Clubs standard fare at all schools, just like French, drama, and music?
